Back in the day, every village had a weekly or daily broadsheet.  It was a means for neighbors to keep informed about local news and happenings in the outside world. 

As technology improved, low cost mass production of Newspapers became possible and the Penny Press was born.  

These local papers also became the source of advertisements for items available from neighbors or the commercial centers of the world.

Global supply chains and the Internet are expanding our neighborhoods and shrinking our world.
